As a new yoga enthusiast, I can tell you that I know nothing about yoga. It’s a new hobby that I picked up in the past few weeks and I love every second of it. This new love of an age-old regimen was exactly what I needed. I would always leave a class relaxed, stretched, and peaceful than I ever had.
It was kind of a disappointment when I had to put a hold on it for a couple of weeks due to being low of funds. The classes were priced reasonable, but the problem at the time was that I had certain unexpected expenses.
However, I’m not here to talk about budgeting; not yet at least. What I really want to talk about are the little tidbits that I’m learning within the yoga world. I have learned that it really is as great as people claim it to be. Yet, I have also learned that there are some not so great things that come with it as well.
I am talking about the hygiene issues that come with yoga mats. The regulars know what I’m talking about; the newbies, you might want to sit back and pay attention.
Many experts, such as Dr. Robert Lahitas, a professor of medicine at Rutgers, have stated that yoga mats are considered to be one of the dirtiest things you can use and with good reasons.
If you think about how often you lug your mat around to various locations, both inside and out, then you have to agree that those germs can’t help but to grow. Let’s also not forget about your bare feet being placed on there as well as your sweat. If you’re having flashbacks to all of those chatarangas you’ve done, you’re not the only one.
Don’t Worry, I got you.
Luckily for you, I had a nice chat with Dennis Lau, co-founder of byVivid. byVivid is a truly interesting company because they found a way to create “an antimicrobial and odor control technology that is proven to prevent 99.9% of bacteria and fungi“.
During our call, Dennis Lau gave me a great insight of why they decided to create this technology. When him and his partner, who also happens to be named Dennis, got together, they wanted to create a product that was antimicrobial.
After extensive research, his partner, Dennis Jager, discovered that no one out there was really creating a product that was hygienic and self-cleaning. Since Dennis Lau had a background in manufacturing and the connections, they both got together to create byVivid. They lab-tested their products for months until it was perfect. In the end, they were able to create an eco-friendly StayFrechTech techonology that has proven to keep their products clean.
However, that’s not the only thing they were able to produce. They were also able to create their products out of natural rubber and manufactured from zero waste and pollution. So for all of our eco-conscious friends, you also get to keep the planet safe while keeping your body healthy.
Currently, you can only find yoga mats and blocks for sale, but byVivid is planning quite soon for more products to be released in 2017. They wanted to keep the new products a surprise so you’ll have to keep up with the news yourselves if you’re looking for more stuff from them.
You can bet I will! I’ll definitely be taking advantage of their sale right now where all products are 33% off. Get it now before they sell out!
